It is the fourth year the contest “Swedish Business Awards 2012” is organized in Latvia. The goal of it is to find the most responsible companies and highlight the successful collaboration between Sweden and Latvia, as well as promote both country common values. Contest has traditionally been organized by the Swedish Embassy and the Swedish Trade Council in cooperation with JSC “Swedbank”.
For the first time this year, the category “Environmental Award” was announced. Its purpose is to highlight those companies that have most successfully implemented environmentally friendly solutions. In competition of 23 contestants for “Environmental Award” JSC “SPODRĪBA” with “ECO SEAL FOR NATURE” product line appeared to have the best environmentally friendly product offered and received the „Environmental Award”.
The new product line is developed according to the official European Union Ecolabel “Ecoflower” environmental criteria and approves that „ECO SEAL FOR NATURE” products correspond to the highest environmental standards. The products are environmentally friendly throughout their life cycle – from production to disposal.
“ECO SEAL FOR NATURE” product line includes 9 ecological washing and cleaning products: ECO laundry universal, ECO laundry color, ECO laundry black, ECO dish wash balm, ECO universal, ECO bathroom, ECO floor, ECO WC and ECO cream soap.
All “ECO SEAL FOR NATURE” products are free for phosphates, dyes, allergens and other harmful additives, washing substances decompose biologically. The new products are concentrated and highly effective; therefore it reduces usage and is therefore better for the environment.
At an event 16 October, the winners of „Sweden Business Award 2012” were announced in the presence of Swedish and Latvian officials, business representatives and international experts. JSC „SPODRĪBA” received the award handed over by the president of Latvia, Mr. Andris Bērziņš and the Ambassador of Sweden in Latvia, Mr. Mats Staffansson.
The number of Swedish Business Awards applicants has grown from 75 companies last year to 98 this year. Applications for this award were assessed by the commission of representatives from the Swedish Embassy, the Swedish Trade Council, “Swedbank”, “Ragn-Sells”, the World Wildlife Fund, the Stockholm School of Economics, Sweden Chamber of Commerce and other organizations.
